Work Experience

Co-Leading the UX/UI Design

Since there was no active design team within the company, my role was that of a lead UX/UI designer along with another intern. Our team was composed of other interns as well who were underclassmen, so we took charge of the process and final product deliverables since we were more experienced. I got the opportunity to communicate directly and work with the client to make design decisions, as well as the development team to learn about the feasibility of the designs.

Aside from the main project we were entrusted with, I also got to work on other projects to propose next steps and potential directions the existing design could go in.

Sprint Weeks

Engaging in sprint weeks was a great opportunity to learn to work quickly and efficiently. During this time, I got to work on branding for a client's product, create a slide deck for a proposal with their potential investor, as well as make some preliminary mockups for the product design to present as part of their pitch. This gave me a chance to work on cross-team communication and my presentation skills.

Leveraging Remote Collaboration

Having to work remotely definitely was not an ideal situation, but in these unprecedented times, it was necessary to make the best of the situation to leverage good work, as well as foster relationships. Communication is key. I frequently met with my project manager to discuss my goals and get feedback advice, and that was an important part of allowing myself to grow as a designer and person.

Apart from communicating with the client and my superiors, I also made it a point to talk to my co-workers and maintain a good relationship with them. Having a good team dynamic makes work much more efficient and that much more enjoyable.
